American Red Cross – Blue Ribbon Committee

WalkePR developed the crisis communications strategy for the Blue Ribbon Committee who faced an acrimonious media environment created by the management of the San Diego Chapter of the American Red Cross. The goal was to give a voice to the Blue Ribbon Committee and to affect dramatic change at the local level.  The media firestorm impacted the National Red Cross like no other independent group in the organization’s history which allowed the Blue Ribbon Committee to get their message across.  WalkePR was awarded PRSA’s Silver Bernay’s Award for Crisis Communications and the effort to dislodge the media stalemate caused by local chapter officials resulting in the resignation of three Board Members and the firing of the Executive Director.
